Miroirs (2008-2017)
From the collections of the Louvre Museum, the Guimet Museum, the Cernuschi Museum, and other museums and private institutions, these archaeological mirrors originate from Asian, Etruscan, Greco-Roman, and Egyptian civilizations. Over the centuries, oxidation has caused these mirrors to lose their reflective properties. Jean-Baptiste Huynh offers a unique, intense, and abstract interpretation of these symbolic objects of self-knowledge whose reflections have faded, giving them a cosmic dimension.
The works in the MIROIRS series are reproduced in the book Lumière, which accompanies Jean-Baptiste Huynh's exhibition Rémanence at the Louvre Museum in 2012.
