Intime infini (1994-1997)
Discovering the country where half of his family comes from, Jean-Baptiste Huynh sketches a portrait of a dreamlike Vietnam and creates a work that weaves surreal connections between humans and the cosmos.
There, he produced his first studies of hands, inspired by Asian mudras, as well as a series of portraits, from childhood to old age, to understand and reveal the Vietnamese face. This research, which he would develop in many countries throughout the world, inaugurated a cycle of portraits that he would continue over the decades.
Jean-Baptiste Huynh is a winner of the Villa Medicis Hors les Murs award and the Hewlett-Packard Foundation for Photography award for Intime Infini.
