Flower Children (2021-2022)

Immersed in an ethnic group in Ethiopia's Omo Valley during lockdown, Jean-Baptiste Huynh photographs the quest for beauty of a people living outside of time, in harmony with nature. Every day, men, women, and children adorn themselves with flowers, pigments, and birds, merging their faces with the elements to transform themselves into living paintings, paying homage to a primal beauty.

« The contributions of Jean-Baptiste Huynh's photography to the world of contemporary art have long been obvious but his new work proves to be a departure. Quietly and methodically Huynh detects and highlights the features of a possible past and brings them into the now. »

To present FLOWER CHILDREN, Jean-Baptiste Huynh takes over the Hôtel de Guise, an abandoned 18th-century mansion, where he creates the striking and daring exhibition Edens, transforming this unusual venue into a poetic space suspended in time.
The works in this series are also presented at the solo show organized by Galerie Lelong at Paris Photo 2022, Grand Palais éphémère.
