“Eikoh Hosoe in Tokyo, David Bailey in London, Irving Penn, Duane Michals in New York, Robert Frank in Essen, Jan Saudek in Prague, Shomei Tomatsu in Nagasaki, Gisèle Freund, Henri Cartier-Bresson, William Klein, and Raymond Depardon in Paris…My one desire was to look into the eyes of each person who sees the world in a different way, to make the portrait of their eyes. […] Then, bringing them back into focus, looking at their features, and watching their eyes, I had an amazing thought. I imagined that, in the time it takes to meet them or take their picture, in the time it takes for an eye to blink or the camera in a flash, I might see everything that they have seen in a single glance.” - Jean-Baptiste Huynh
