Mains 2017

The Francs Bibliophiles Society gave me carte blanche in designing a photogravure-printed artist’s book. Meeting and discussing with photogravure artisan Fanny Boucher showed me that this technique offered a wealth of nuances for low lights and dark blacks. The mysterious, timeless, enduring interpretation of my black-and-white prints won me over.
This manual printing technique inspired my choice of theme – the hand – and the woman I photographed – Dorcite, a native of Benin.
After creating the images, I asked my friend Frédéric Beigbeder to contribute his vision and words to my photographs.
